Nanda Devi National Park

Among the most impressive wilderness regions of Himalayas is Nanda Devi National Park.  It is subjugated Nanda Devi peak, which rises more than seven thousand eight hundred meter. In the park no citizens reside and hence it has continued almost intact since it is inaccessible. It is the home of various rare mammals, particularly the snow leopard, bharal & musk deer of Himalayan.

Contained in the Garhwal Himalaya, the park is situated in district Chamoli. It contains the catchment region of the Rishi Ganga which is Dhauli Gangas eastern branch that streams at Joshimath into the Alaknanda River. The region is a huge glacial basin, separated by a sequence of equivalent, north-south leaning ridges. These grow up to the surrounding mountain border next to which are approximately dozen crests, the better recognized with Dunagiri, Changbang & Nanda Devi East.

Jungles are limited mainly to the Rishi Gorge & are subjugated by fir, rhododendron & birch equal to approximately 3,350 m creating a wide belt among these & the alpine fields are birch jungle , through an rhododendron understorey. Environment is drier inside 'Inner Sanctuary, flattering roughly xeric up the major Nanda Devi glaciers. Afar Ramani, the plants change from jungle to waterless alpine area, amid scrub juniper fitting the leading wrap inside the 'Inner Sanctuary'. Juniper provides route to grasses attitudinally, flat mosses & lichens, & on riverine earth to yearly basil & dwarf willow.

Plenty of ungulate populations are main main famous thing of the basin, particularly musk deer of Himalayan (planned as 'lower risk' endangered class). Also common are Mainland serow & Himalayan tahr.  Goral allocation does not emerge to expand to inside the basin, though the type does happen in the national park neighborhood. Big carnivores are general leopard, black bear of Himalayan & brown bear, the reality of it however has to be established. The mere primate here is ordinary langur, though exterior the park limits rhesus macaque is seen. Biosphere reserve reported approximately 83 classes.

Best Time To Visit

Yearly merely from 1st May to 31st October Nanda Devi National Park is unlocked.

Snow in winter creates admission to the Nanda Devi National park unfeasible for the other part of the year.

Visiting The Park

Nanda Devi National Park is largely divided into 2 pieces - the Inner & External Sanctuaries.

The Inner Sanctuary consists of - 2/3rd of the Nanda Devi National Parks whole region & comprises Mount Nanda Devi beside Devistan I (twenty one thousand nine hundred and nine feet), Devistan II (twenty one thousand four hundred and twenty one feet) & Rishi Kot (twenty thousand four hundred and fifty nine feet).  Also, the Inner Sanctuary has 2 main glaciers - the Uttari Rishi Glacier (north) & the Dakkhni Rishi Glacier (south) that border the Nanda Devi Mountain.


The Outer Sanctuary is alienated from the Inner Sanctuary through high crest (the Rishi ravine), by which runs the Rishi Ganga branch. The Outer sanctuary is surrounded on three sides by nineteen mountain crests, every one taller than nineteen thousand feet.

The whole region includes the catchment region of the Rishi Ganga. It is an eastern branch of Dhauli Ganga that goes in river Alaknanda at Joshimath.

Entry Rules Into Nanda Devi National Park

From 1982, & in a proposition to protect its delicate ecosystem & the attractiveness, visitor flood at Nanda Devi National Park has turned into the most controlled among Indian National Parks.  Merely about five hundred people are allowed to go to the Nanda Devi National Park every period.

Tourist Places in Kedarnath

One of the holiest places of Pilgrimage, Kedarnath is located in Indian state of Uttarakhand.  It is in Rudraprayg district of the state and one of the Char Dham (important Hindu religious places). Nestled with majestic snow covered mountain of Himalaya, Kedarnath is home to one of the holiest temple of Hindu, Kedarnath temple. Thousands of devotees from across the world visit this place throughout the year.

Place to visit:  Kedarnath is popularly known for its many Hindu temples of religious importance.

Kedarnath temple :
Kedarnath temple is the most prominent temple in Kedarnath. It is believed that it was built by Sankaracharya. The temple is one the twelve Jyotirlingas and according to myth it is the place where Lord Shiva hid himself in the form of a bull.  Lord Shiva hid himself here because he was not willing to forgive Pandavas who were begging pardon and redemption after the war of Kurushetra against there in and kith.


Sankaracharya Samadhi :
Sankaracharya Samadhi is another religious place in Kedarnath. He was a famous Hindu philosopher. It is believed that it was he who renovated the shrine of Kedarnath.

Agastya muni:
Agastya muni is yet another place where thousands of devotes gathers to pay homage to the great sage, Agastya who is believed to have spend his some time of his life meditating here. On the occasion of Baisakhi thousands of pilgrims throng there.
Apart from the religious place Kedarnath also house other places of interest in and around it.

Chandrashila :
Chandrashila is one of them. It is situated at the altitude of    3680 m and offers many trekking sites to adventurers. It also offers tourist various beautiful natural sights.
Chopta, Sonprayag and Vasuki Tal are some of many other places of attraction to be seen near Kedarnath.

How to get there: 
If you are travelling by train Rishikesh is the place you can get down at. Its railway station is the closest one to Kedarnath (221km). From Rishikesh to Kedarnath there are many vehicles available like cars and buses. Many state run buses and other private vehicles like luxury buses and cars link Kedarnath to other towns and cities of the Uttarakhand state and the country. Jolly Grant Airport at Dehradun is 239 km away from Kedarnath and closest one to it. The airport is well connected to other major cities of the country.

Other details: 
Kedarnath is a major pilgrimage center and thousands of pilgrims visit this holy town. It houses many hotels which provide accommodation facilities to visitors.   During the time of May to November most of the hotels are booked. Because this is the period of the year when most of the devotees and tourists come here. So if you plan to make a visit this holy town of Kedarnath, do not forget to book your rooms in advance.
